PETER SEGAL (Director), a USC graduate, made his feature film directorial debut with the hit comedy Naked Gun 33-1/3. His most recent film credits include the critically-acclaimed My Fellow Americans, starring Jack Lemmon, James Garner, Dan Aykroyd and Lauren Bacall, and the hit comedy Tommy Boy, starring Chris Farley and David Spade. Segal has had an extensive career directing comedy for TV, and has won eight Emmy Awards, a CableACE Award as Best Director and two National Association of Broadcasters' Service to Children Awards. In 1995 Segal formed Greenhaven Films, a production company that currently has on its slate another Eddie Murphy vehicle for Imagine and Universal, a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man, which Segal is writing with Fred Wolf (Tommy Boy). Greenhaven is also developing The Hardy Men for Fox 2000 starring Ben Stiller, as well as other feature projects. STEVE OEDEKERK (Story) is a successful stand-up comedian, performer, writer and director. He wrote and directed his first two films Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls and Nothing to Lose. While a staff writer on In Living Color, he and actor Jim Carrey shared an office and collaborated on various sketches. During that time, Carrey was developing Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and sought Oedekerk’s input, which marked his first big screen collaboration with director Tom Shadyac. On the last day of the In Living Color season, Oedekerk sold his original spec screenplay for Nothing to Lose. This was quickly followed by several major studio writing assignments, his second and third collaborations with Shadyac on The Nutty Professor and Patch Adams, and eventually his directing the Ace Ventura sequel. BARRY W. BLAUSTEIN & DAVID SHEFFIELD (Co-Screenwriters) met Eddie Murphy on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where the three of them wrote and developed many of Murphy's most famous characters including Gumby, Buckwheat and Velvet Jones. Blaustein and Sheffield's screenplay credits include The Nutty Professor, Police Academy II, Coming To America and Boomerang. These films have grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. Along with Bob Tischler they created and co-produced the award-winning TV special What's Alan Watching? Barry Blaustein recently made his directorial debut with the film Beyond the Mat. PAUL WEITZ & CHRIS WEITZ (Co-Screenwriters) made their feature film debuts as directors on the hit teenage comedy American Pie. The brothers previously wrote the screenplay for DreamWorks' computer-animated feature Antz. They will next be seen acting in Chuck & Buck, director Miguel Arteta’s follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Star Maps. Chuck & Buck, which premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, will be released theatrically by Artisan Entertainment. Born in New York, Paul and Chris come from a long line of Hollywood veterans. Their parents are fashion designer/writer John Weitz, and former actress Susan Kohner who received an Academy Award® nomination for Imitation of Life. Their grandfather was the legendary agent and producer Paul Kohner, who represented directors such as John Huston, Billy Wilder, Ingmar Bergman and William Wyler. Paul Weitz graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a degree in film. During his last year, his play Mango Tea with Marisa Tomei and Rob Morrow was produced by New York's Ensemble Studio Theatre and performed off-Broadway. The Ensemble Studio Theatre also produced his next works Captive and All for One, starring Calista Flockhart and Liev Schrieber. Chris Weitz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English literature from Cambridge University. He went on to work as a freelance journalist for various newspapers, including The Independent and The Sunday Times. Chris then decided to join the State Department after passing the entrance examinations, but during the year he awaited the start of his tenure he wrote a screenplay with his brother with whom he had always collaborated creatively as a youth. KAREN KEHELA (Executive Producer) currently serves as co-chairman of Imagine Films, a position to which she was appointed in 1997. In this post, she works closely with partners Brian Grazer and Ron Howard in the development and production of the company's feature film slate. Most recently, Kehela was executive producer on Bowfinger and the Eddie Murphy-Martin Lawrence movie Life. She is currently working on Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas, directed by Ron Howard and the upcoming A Beautiful Mind. Prior to this she served as executive producer on Inventing the Abbotts, starring Liv Tyler and Joaquin Phoenix, as well as the smash hit The Nutty Professor, starring Murphy. She also contributed to the Jim Carrey box-office hit Liar Liar. Directly after graduating from UCLA, Kehela joined Imagine Entertainment as Brian Grazer's assistant. Following a two-year period running the New York office, she returned to the company's headquarters in Los Angeles and was appointed president of production at the age of 29. TOM SHADYAC (Executive Producer) made his feature film directorial debut with Jim Carrey's breakout hit Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Following with the smash hit The Nutty Professor, produced by Brian Grazer and starring Eddie Murphy, he then reteamed with Carrey and Grazer for the box office sensation Liar Liar. Most recently, Shadyac directed the Robin Williams' Golden Globe-nominated hit comedy Patch Adams. Last year Shadyac formed Shady Acres Entertainment, a production company based at Universal Pictures, which is currently developing a number of feature film projects as well as television and music. Shadyac moved to Los Angeles in 1983 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia. He began his career in entertainment at the age of 23, working as the youngest staff joke writer for the legendary Bob Hope. He then returned to college, attending graduate school at UCLA in 1989 where he completed the critically acclaimed short, Tom, Dick & Harry. During this time, Shadyac performed as a standup comedian, appearing regularly at the Improv in Los Angeles. JAMES D. BRUBAKER (Executive Producer) has had a 40-year career in motion pictures during which time he has worked on countless television programs and over 50 feature films. His most recent credits as an executive producer include Life, starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, Liar Liar with Jim Carrey, and A Walk in the Clouds featuring Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn. He served as producer on the multi award-winning HBO movie Gia, starring Angelina Jolie, and was the co-producer on The Nutty Professor. Beginning his career as a driver at MGM after a stint in the army, Brubaker worked his way up to the head of transportation for the studio. He then moved over to production where he gained experience in all phases of filmmaking. Among his credits during this time are production manager on Raging Bull, Comes a Horseman, and New York, New York; associate producer on Rhinestone, Rocky III and True Confessions; line producer on Patty Hearst; and Co-producer on Rambo III. Additional films on which Brubaker has served as producer or executive producer are Cobra, Rocky IV and The Right Stuff, among many others. This year Brubaker teamed with Tom Shadyac in the director's production company, Shady Acres. Off the set, Brubaker devotes his time to inspiring young people as a teacher and lecturer at UCLA and USC, and as a board member of Streetlights, a training program in film crafts for disadvantaged inner-city youths. He creates opportunities for these trainees on his films providing them with the experience necessary to forge careers in the business. WILLIAM ELLIOTT (Production Designer) began his career as an art director and received Academy Award® nominations for his work in this capacity on Rain Man and The Untouchables. Additional credits as an art director include Regarding Henry, Back to the Future II, Throw Momma From the Train, Cross My Heart, Silverado, About Last Night, Body Double and the telefilm Infidelity. As a production designer, Elliott recently worked on Jim Abrahams' comedy Jane Austen's Mafia. He previously collaborated with Tom Shadyac on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Hot Shots! and Hot Shots! Part Deux. Nutty Professor II: The Klumps marks the fourth film starring Murphy on which Elliott has served as production designer; the previous three are Dr. Dolittle, Metro and The Nutty Professor. Among Elliott's additional credits as production designer are For Better or Worse, Andre, Honeymoon in Vegas and Impulse. MICHAEL EWING (Co-producer) is currently partnered with Peter Segal in Greenhaven Films. Serving as president, Ewing oversees the development of numerous feature film and television projects for Greenhaven, which recently signed a two-year first-look deal with Imagine and Universal. The first picture under the new contract is a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man, starring Eddie Murphy. Ewing began his career in New York studying with Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg at the Actor's Studio. He went on to direct and co-produce several off-Broadway plays before turning his attention to feature films. Ewing met producer Robert K. Weiss and director David Zucker on the hit comedy The Naked Gun, starring Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley. He reteamed with Weiss and Zucker as associate producer on the next two successful sequels, Naked Gun 2-1/2 and Naked Gun 33-1/3, where he first worked with director Peter Segal. Ewing went on to serve as associate producer and Co-producer respectively on the director's next two features, the hit Tommy Boy starring Chris Farley and David Spade, and the critically-acclaimed My Fellow Americans starring Jack Lemmon, James Garner, Dan Aykroyd and Lauren Bacall. SHAREN DAVIS (Costume Designer) recently served as costume designer on the box-office mega hit Rush Hour, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Among her additional credits are Betty Thomas' Dr. Dolittle starring Eddie Murphy, Devil In a Blue Dress, Money Talks and Alan Rudolf's Equinox. RICK BAKER (Special Makeup Effects) is a five-time Academy Award® winner, who most recently created the special effects make-up for Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence and the supporting players in Life. In addition to Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Baker is also working on the make-up effects for another Imagine Entertainment production, Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!, which stars Jim Carrey and is being directed by Ron Howard. Baker has applied his creative make-up artistry to dozens of feature films, including: The Devil's Advocate, Wolf, The Rocketeer, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Gorillas in the Mist, Starman and Star Wars (cantina sequence). He won an Academy Award® for his work on Men In Black, The Nutty Professor, Ed Wood, Harry and the Hendersons and An American Werewolf in London. Additionally, Baker received Academy Award® nominations for Mighty Joe Young, Coming to America and Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan. His many television credits include Harry and the Hendersons, Something is Out There, Beauty and the Beast, Werewolf, Thriller and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, for which he received an Emmy Award. |
